Since the second world war we have had a 20 year cycle - starting from 1945 / 65 / 85 / 2005.

Basically the troops came home and birthrate shot up.

This is one of the main reasons why Britain seems to be reeling from a plague of youth related bad behaviour, we are at another peak in the cycle.
