COMMON SENSE ??????
The power of artificial intelligence is all around us. Computers help us fly planes, make financial decisions, and recognize patterns much the same way our brains work. But can a computer be programmed to have human traits, like common sense?
Charlie Kemp works at an artificial intelligence lab. He is programming his computer to have common sense.
“Common sense is not something we as people can teach,” he said. “It's all automatic for us.”
But he predicts we will eventually go beyond humans teaching computers.
“We will be able to work better together,” he said. “Whereas now it's pretty much humans, you know, slamming away at some computer, trying to get it to do something.”
Some experts predict that in the future, humans and machines will actually merge. Humans will think, using non-biological intelligence.
Kemp predicts we will eventually go beyond humans teaching computers. “We'll have billions of nanobots in the capillaries of our brains, communicating wirelessly with our biological neurons, with the internet, with each other, and basically expanding human intelligence and experience,” said author and inventor Ray Kurzweil.
