EVOLUTION
Hardware changes usually = lots of software changes - this is analogous once again at least to me, to the mind / body problem.
Think of it like this, I don't know how to surf or any martial arts skills, so if I wish to learn any of these skills, then it will take me both time and effort, to learn them. This to me is no different than me changing my body / hardware and my mind / software, with each new skill learnt leading to change. So if I wish to kick box, then it is reasonable to assume that my leg muscles, will adapt to service this task and my mind will begin to learn how best to achieve this desired goal. As robots and software evolve, then just as in nature, skill learning becomes a natural part of evolution, the problem with nature, is that it's feedback loops are usually painfully slow, usually requiring natural selection and survival of the fittest principals, to develop a species to it's highest possible state.
Technology may soon reach a point, in which feedback loops, instantly reconfigure design, so a systems evolution may reach it's maximum potential, far quicker, than nature ever could? A singularity concept that is getting nearer all the time, which may one day see us all merging with machines, whilst at the same time allowing us all, to be raised to our maximum evolutionary potential?
It's all kind of scary really - homo superior here we come?
